MacLachlan Tapped by GOP for State House Run

Jesse MacLachlan was unanimously endorsed as the Republican candidate this fall for 35th District — which includes the towns of Clinton, Killingworth and Westbrook.

The following is a press release from the Republican Party members of the 35th District of the Connecticut House.

Republicans from Clinton, Killingworth and Westbrook came together Wednesday night in a unanimous decision to nominate Jesse MacLachlan as the Republican candidate for State Representative in the 35th district

MacLachlan, a longtime Westbrook native, said he was honored to have so many people put their trust in him to be their voice in Hartford.  “Since I first expressed interest in running, the outpouring of support from friends, family and neighbors has been overwhelming,” MacLachlan said.

“Since getting to know Jesse it has become clear that he is the right person for this job,” said Westbrook Republican Town Committee Chairman Harry Ruppenicker. “He knows the issues, he knows this district and he knows his job is to improve the quality of life in our community and our state.”

MacLachlan said his first concern upon joining the state house will be contributing to the effort to make Connecticut a healthier economic environment for people, families and businesses.  “We have a state full of educated, hard-working individuals- they are our asset.  Our government needs to focus on, among many roles, allowing business owners and entrepreneurs to do what they do best- create jobs.”

MacLachlan says he will be campaigning hard between now and Election Day to meet as many people as possible to learn their thoughts and concerns with state government.

MacLachlan attended Westbrook public schools  for middle and high school and graduated from Gordon College with a degree in political science. He is an active member of his local church, Valley Shore Assembly of God, where he volunteers his time working with children and is employed by his family’s small business BiblioTech, Inc., located in Westbrook.
