Letter To The Editor: "Clinton First is the future of Clinton. We've already begun to plan for the 2015 election."

"We want to thank everyone who voted and encourage all Clinton residents and property owners to come out and vote at the budget referendums and town meetings."

From Vincent Cimino, candidate for First Selectman for the Clinton First Party in the 2013 Municipal elections:

To the editor:

Any petitioning party, which Clinton First was until last night, has an initial goal of receiving at least 1% of the vote, which then qualifies that party to become a minor party.  Last night, Clinton First received between 20% and 35% of the vote for every office, guaranteeing minor party status.  State election officials were extremely impressed by our totals and pointed out how rare that level of success is.  Clinton First is now able to simply nominate candidates, like the Democrats and Republicans, and no longer needs to circulate any nominating petitions for any office.  That's a huge accomplishment and Clinton First is very grateful to the voters of Clinton who listened to our message and agreed that Clinton needs a real alternative option, a third party, the Clinton First Party.

The fact that more voters against Willie Fritz, an 8-year incumbent, than for him tells us that the majority of voters disapprove of his administration.  The fact that this will now be 24 consecutive years that the Republicans have failed to get their candidate elected is evidence that they're also going in the wrong direction.  Voters across the country are disappointed with the two major parties.  The recent federal government shutdown illustrates just how dysfunctional the Democrats and Republicans are.

Clinton First is very proud of the campaign we ran, which focused directly on the issues.  In a very short period of time, in our very first campaign, we received a remarkable amount of support.  We're extremely grateful to the voters who paid attention to the issues, supported our campaign and voted with us.  We've also received many requests to join our party and welcome any Clinton resident interested in doing so.  We invite you to contact us directly at Clinton1stct@gmail.com and we look forward to talking with you.

Obviously, momentum keeps growing.  Clinton First is the future of Clinton.  We've already begun to plan for the 2015 election.   Until then, we'll continue to hold the feet of elected officials to the fire.  We want to thank everyone who voted and encourage all Clinton residents and property owners to come out and vote at the budget referendums and town meetings.
