A Collection Of Photos From Connecticut's Record Shattering Tropical Storm Irene

This past week has been like a scene straight out of an apocalyptic movie.

A huge storm rolls in, decimates everything in its path, to leave everyone stranded inside their homes with no power, no water and food that will only last two days at most.

Luckily that was not the ultimate ending.

Some people were lucky enough to have a generator running, supplying their family with power for their freezer and refrigerator, electricity for a hot water heater and pump and entertainment so no one was bored.

Tropical Storm Irene hit us with rain and incredible wind and storm surges. Knocking almost 800,000 customers out of power, CL&P had no choice but to call for crews nationwide and as far as parts of Canada and Oregon to come help with the residual damage of this intense storm.
