Family Best Bets Of The Week: Bike Fest, Robin Hood Fair, Garbage Museum!

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Daffodil Festival at Hubbard Park

Where/When: West Main St. Meriden, April 30 and May 1. Sat. 10am-8pm Sun. 10am-6pm

Why Go: This historic park will have over 600,000 daffodils! There will be a parade, craft show, entertainment, fireworks amusement area and a food tent. A guaranteed good time! For more information call 203.630.4259 or visit their website www.daffodilfest.com

• Family Fun Day at the Garbage Museum

Where/When: 1410 Honeyspot Road Ext. Stratford. April 30 10am-2pm

Why Go: Come join the Sweet 16 Birthday Celebration for Trash-o-saurus! There will be treasure hunts, crafts and tours of the museum. www.crra.org

Pricing: $2/person 3 and under are free

 

• Chat and Walk

Where/When: Chatfield Hollow Park. Every Friday until May 20 at 9:30am

Why Go: Children of all ages, moms, dads, and caregivers are all welcome to attend this stroller friendly walk around the park. It’s a great way to meet new friends and get some fresh air and exercise.

Pricing: This group is Free! Admittance to the park it covered by your Season Pass for State Parks, which can be purchased at the DEP store online.

 

• Robin Hood’s Springtime Festival

Where/When: Guilford Fair Grounds, April 30-May 1, May 6-8, May 14-15, May 21-22 from 11am-7pm.

Why Go: Meet all your favorite Robin Hood characters. There will be jousting, belly dancing, music and more! Don’t forget to stop by the Medieval Marketplace and taste the delicious treats. Remember: Costumes are ENCOURAGED but not required! www.ctfaire.com/spring

Pricing: Adults: $15  Children (5-12): $8   Under 5 are free!

 

• Clinton Bike Fest

Where/When: Downtown Clinton. Sunday, May 1, 12pm-5pm

Why Go:  Ok …Here is the schedule of events: 

12-1pm Fun Walk/Ride which will begin and end at Town Hall. Register online and don’t forget there are bike rentals available at Town Hall 

1-5pm Town Hall Events: Music, refreshments, raffles and bike rodeo

Main Street Activities: shops and restaurants will be open. Tours of both the Stanton House and Old Brick will be available. Pedicab rides.

Post Office Square: Yoga and Zumba classes, Guitar soloist, sing-along and open microphone.
