We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Spring Egg Hunt & Pet Parade

Where/When: Tanger Outlets, Westbrook, Saturday, April 23 at 11am

Why Go: The egg hunt will take place in the courtyard in front of J. Crew. It will be divided by the following age groups: 0-3, 4-7, 8-12. Make sure you bring a basket for your eggs! If you would like to have your pet participate in the 6th annual Pet Parade be in front of PetsSense at 12:30 p.m.

Pricing: Free!

 

• Easter Crafts & Indoor Egg Hunt

Where/When: Stay & Play, Old Saybrook, Friday, April 22 starts at 5:30pm

Why Go: Pizza will be available by donation. All admission fees collected after 4:30pm will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Pricing: $5.00 per child

 

• Dinosaur Place Egg Hunt

Where/When: 1650 Hartford-New London Turnpike, Saturday, April 23

Why Go: How can you pass up 400 Dino Eggs in three locations throughout The Dinosaur Place?

Egg Hunt Schedule

9:30am Park opens early for Egg Hunt participants.  
Upon entry, each participant will receive a hand stamp allowing in/out access for the day at the Outdoor Adventure. Special Egg Hunt All Day Outdoor Adventure Admission: $14.99 per child participant. Adults - $12.99. Normal admission prices apply after Egg Hunt.

10:00am DinoMights Special Welcome
Favorite dinosaurs DinoMights, Lady Lava, Jurassic Joe and Ranger Rex will introduce a newly hatched, special baby dinosaur, Monty “Junior”, the newest interactive character to the Dinosaur Place. 

10:15am Egg Hunt Begins

The hunt will be divided into age groups in order to be fair:

4 and under, 5-7, & 8-12+

The different age groups will be brought to three separate areas to hunt. Each dinosaur egg will contain both a baby dinosaur toy and a coupon. The dinosaur toys are yours too keep and the coupons can be brought inside to the “Egg Redemption Center” for another prize.

Pricing:

$14.99 per child participant. Adults - $12.99. Normal admission prices apply after Egg Hunt

 

• Easter Bunny Train Rides

Where/When: Danbury Railway Museum, 120 White Street, April 22 & 23 from 12:30-3:30pm

Why Go: Take a tour of the 1903 train station museum. They have over 60 trains and cars. You can take the 20 minute ride on the “Rail Yard Local” vintage train and see the Easter Bunny’s Special Coach. The Easter Bunny will have a small gift for your little sweetheart. Reservations recommended. Trains depart every half hour. Call (203) 778-8337 for more information and reservations.

Pricing: $9/person

 

• Edd’s Place- Restaurant

Where/When: Westbrook (just before Bill’s Seafood)

Why Go: Not only do they serve AMAZING food, but this is a great kid-friendly restaurant. They have picnic table style seating as well as tables inside a heated gazebo. Best part is….. the playscape right next to the gazebo. The kids can play on the swings while you wait for the food. Don’t forget- you can bring your own beer or wine and enjoy the waterfront dining. They WILL be open Easter Sunday (reservations recommended).
