Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect For This Afternoon

We got it all: a severe thunderstorm warning and watch, lightning, hail, high winds, floods, and bad air quality.

 

Get out of the pool or water, bring in the kids, the pets, secure the outdoor umbrellas and other equipment as it sounds as if a doozy of a storm is headed our way this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has predicted severe thunderstorms for Clinton and the surrounding shoreline beginning just before or after 4pm today.

They indicated that a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph is coming. These storms were located across southwest Connecticut and moving east at 15 mph.

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9pm. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then a slight chance of showers after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
