Rain, Heavy At Times, Expected Until Wednesday

After almost a week of beautiful weather, the rain is here - and is staying around until Wednesday, says the the National Weather Service.

Because of the rain, the Clinton Education Foundation Family Golf Classic scheduled for tomorrow, Aug. 15, at The Clinton Country Club has been postponed due to rain.  New date to come soon!

Heavy rainfall affecting Clinton and the surrounding area could be sufficient to cause localized flash flooding today into tonight.

Rain and thunderstorms for the next few days

The National Weather Service forecast discussion today is all about low pressure systems, the kind that bring rain and unsettled weather.

"Low pressure will move slowly toward the region today and be over the area tonight. Periods of rain and embedded thunderstorms will continue into at least tonight. Locally heavy rain will occasionally occur, especially today and tonight," the National Weather Service said.

"The low is expected to track south and east of the region Monday with the heavier rain shifting to the east. However, numerous showers and thunderstorms are still likely in its wake as an upper level trough approaches."

The good news? A high pressure system, along with sunny weather, should make at least a brief reappearance Wednseday, the NWS says. And after that? " ... a slow moving cold front approaching for the end of the upcoming week."
