Possibility Of Heavy Rain This Weekend

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook, saying there is a small chance of flash flooding Sunday into Monday; Looks like it might rain Saturday; Friday should be sunny, so enjoy it while it lasts.

 

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Sunday into Monday, saying there is the potential for around two to three inches of rainfall across the tri-state area during that time.

"While urban and poor drainage flooding will be the main threat, there is a small chance of flash flooding," the NWS said.

The NWS Hydrometeorological Prediction Center said that "after an extended stretch of dry weather over the eastern third of the country, a widespread rainfall event is becoming likely from Florida to New England as a cold front interacts with a moisture-rich air mass from the Gulf of Mexico."

The heaviest rain is forecast for the deep south and Florida, and there could be snow in parts of Canada, but it looks like the Shoreline might get its share of rain. As long as it's not too heavy, that could be welcome relief to an area that has had multiple Red Flag warnings recently due to dry weather that has contributed to .

Tonight: A slight chance of rain or drizzle after 1am. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. South wind between 3 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. South wind between 5 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 50. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 59. East wind between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Rain. Low around 45. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
