Library To Open Again On Saturdays

Starts Saturday, September 10

Effective Saturday, September 10, the will open again on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

The library is able to offer these additional hours by closing extra days during the Thanksgiving holiday (November 23, 25 and 26) as well as during the Christmas holiday (December 22, 23, 24 and 26).

According to the library, this change in schedule is to enable Clinton families with school age children to use the library during the school year.

Due to the failure of the town's , the library budget was cut by $100,000 by the town's Board of Finance. Due to the cuts, the library board cut services, staff hours and hours the library would be open including Saturdays and Sundays this summer. Read about it .

Because of those cuts, the library has been forced to reduce its operations by 14 hours, close both weekend days, cut children's services, cut the number of museum passes available to residents, and cut database services such as extra newspapers and magazines and online paid services such as Ancestry.com.
