Jonathan Markovics: Rotary's Student Of The Month

He's the first sophomore honored with the award.

The recently presented a special award to their February Student of the Month from the .

The honor this time went to their first ever sophomore student: Jonathan Markovics.

Jonathan was joined for a special dinner at the by his mother, Elizabeth Markovics, father Mike Markovics and his nominating teacher  Shannon Robinson.

Robinson is the new Morgan School Interact Advisor, which is the junior arm of the Rotary Club.   

Jonathan's accomplishments are many and include his membership in the Interact Club, the Uganda Club, the Art from the Heart program, Forensics, Amnesty International, the school yearbook, Peer Advocates and STEP: a program during held in the summer to help the incoming freshman adjust from the to Morgan.

He is a member of The Morgan Honors Program, the tennis team, and in his freshman year he was on the soccer team and indoor track team.

His out-of school activities including belonging to Buddy Baseball and Buddy Soccer, both non-competitive sports for boys and girls with special needs. He is "paired" with a special needs buddy and assists the player as needed.

He volunteers at the garden where during the spring and summer on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings he volunteers in the garden. All of the produce grown is donated to the local . He is also a lector at St. Mary's church.

In addition, he volunteers for in Guilford and holds two steady babysitting jobs. He also does yard work in his neighborhood.

Overall, Jonathan enjoys being involved in his community and keeping busy. He enjoys to meet lots of interesting, great people who inspire him to stay involved.
