Join Patch In Welcoming New Business "Palmieri's" [With Video]

It's New York style pizza, Italian food and much more at the old train depot.

If you are craving New York style pizza, head to Palmieri's, the new restaurant in town located in the old train depot (old Piccadeli Station) at 51 West Main Street.

Co-owners Andrew Palmieri and Willie Roman have created a menu featuring thin crust pizza, Sicilian pizza, and many Italian favorites such as calzones, stuffed breads, garlic knots, hot and cold grinders, pasta, soups, appetizers and salads. There are also Italian entrees such as chicken or veal parmigiana, baked penne, lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, and lobster ravioli to choose from.

There's also gluten-free pizza.

Why Clinton?

"People along the shoreline are friendly and in high spirits," he said. "Everyone who has walked in the restaurant has been receptive to us and said they would spread the word."

All who enter are greeted with a complimentary snack of their freshly-made pizza.

Flying off the shelves, said Roman, is their Buffalo Chicken pizza made with chicken, hot sauce, blue cheese and mozzarella.

The two made a few upgrades and changes to the space including new tables and art.

"I love the character of this building," said Palmieri, referring to the structure's history as a train depot.

Roman stressed that their pizza is "not made in a pan." It is hand-tossed with a 100 percent mozzarella topping.

Both Palmieri and Roman come from the restaurant business where they met.

"I started as a busboy at age 15 and worked my way through the system," said Palmieri. "At 21 years old I bought into a restaurant."

Palmieri's offers catering services, delivery (to Clinton, Madison and Westbrook) and accepts major credit cards.

If you are shopping at , you can grab a slice of Palmieri's pizza at "Nosh," the little food provider at the mall.

They are applying for a license to serve wine and beer, but for now, adults are welcome to BYOB.

The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Plans for the summertime are to offer real New York style Italian ice in an outdoor kiosk.
