Irene's Wake: Photos From Around Town

Major Trees Down, Damage To Buildings - It's All The Aftermath Of Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene came into the town of Clinton not as a lady, but as a something most people here have not seen in 25 years. Extensive damage includes trees down across roads, power lines down, flooding, and lots and lots of large tree limbs hitting decks, cars and yards.

One of the most visible sights is the crushed east wing of the Clinton Motel at the corner of East Main Street and Route 145. Shore Road is another badly-hit area as is Hull Street.

Clinton Police Chief Todd Lawrie has asked people to please use common sense when travelling around town today. There are many, many trees and electric lines still across the roads. Don't get near them and do not assume they are not "live."

He also advised to not travel to the beach, Shore Road or marina areas if you do not live there.  This is to allow the emergency and clean up crews to get in and out of the area.
