Town Beach Officially Opens June 25 - But You Can Still Enjoy A Cool-Off There Or At Town Hall

Remember all the snow that fell this winter? The piles and piles of it that blocked driveways and walkways and collapsed roofs and buildings? Seems just like yesterday until one walks outside today.

It's hot - and humid - and hazy.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be hot and hazy with a high near 90 degrees. There is an air quality alert and a hazardous weather outlook alert for the area.

For tonight - be aware that there could again be severe thunderstorms before 2am. After that time, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.  Friday looks a little cooler at a high of 79 degrees with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

For any Clinton resident seeking immediate relief from the heat, the is open today until about 10pm. Bring a book and a cool drink and you can sit downstairs in the Green Room where it is especially cool.

Town Hall is open on Friday, June 10 until noon.

According to the town's which manages the town beach, the official opening of the beach is Saturday, June 25.

"Until then, people can come and go as they please," said P&R administrator Lois Ruggiero.

Please note that the bathrooms will not be open until this weekend and there is no lifeguard on duty.

The Park & Recreation crew will be at the beach this week and weekend performing a general cleanup and readying the area for its official opening.

Beginning June 25, residents can purchase their beach passes at the beach through the gate-keeper.  Season passes are $20 for Clinton and Killingworth residents; and $10 for seniors who are Clinton or Killingworth residents.  A one-day parking fee for non-residents is $25.

Lifeguards will be on duty beginning July 1.

The new , which includes a concession area and new bathrooms, is slated to be completed in mid-July.
