Easy, easy, just go to www.ctalert.gov

There was some confusion earlier as well as questions from Clinton residents on how they can get on the emergency alert system when they do not have a land line phone.

Major Thomas Lucas from the Clinton Police Department said instead of calling the dispatch center, go to www.ctalert.gov and sign up.

Follow the directions on setting up a user name and password

Then, you tell the system from which towns and locations you would like to receive an alert. You can choose where you live and where you work, for example. You can add as many locations as you'd like.

Then you can chose in what manner you would like to be notified: home phone, work phone, cell phone, text, email, TTY/TDD, etc. You can choose one or all.

It will confirm all your choices and call you/email you/text you to confirm, and you are done!
