Does anyone know if power is on near Glenwood and Liberty?
Jeff September 01, 2011 at 11:23 AM
Fay...there needs to be some cummincation between the town and/or Willie and the businesses on Route1 as to the status of electrical service. I'm getting incredibly frustrated that all other towns have been able to get their Main St./downtown/ business areas. I'm getting very nervous that the power won't be restored by Tuesday now. I would happily trade the power at my house for power at my office. I have overhead expenses and bills piling up and no ability to make any money as long as this continues. It's critical to the economics of this town that they get Route 1 fixed and it should be their priority.

If you go to http://www.governor.ct.gov/malloy/cwp/view.asp?Q=485356&A=4010 it gives info for loans and grant and aid for small businesses. It's not the best solution, but maybe it will help offset some of the impact financially.

Does anyone know the status of the Town Beach? Swim-able? Playground open? We all have a case of the "end of summer doldrums," and I was thinking a swim might be a welcome treat at this point!

Faye Abrahammson, I have to commend you on how diligently you are working to keep us all informed. I am incredibly grateful to you, thank you!!! (you actually put the "other" resources to shame, eg. wtnh.com, the REgister, etc!)

Hi Peter - it's open, some things are limited. Friday hours are usually 9am-noon, so you might want to call first 663-9333 before you head over tomorrow.
Fay Abrahamsson (Editor) September 01, 2011 at 07:20 PM
Teresa - I posted an article about the town beach on Patch. It is open and the water tests came back fine. There are, however, no lifeguards. The playground is open, but might have some debris here and there.
