Hard To Believe It's Been One Year Since Irene Came To Town

Tropical Storm Irene hit Clinton one year ago this coming Tuesday, August 28. What do you remember most about that day?

 

Anyone who was in Clinton last year on Sunday, August 28 remembers it well: high winds, gusts of rain, trees down all over town, and no electricity for a week or more.

It will be one year since the hurricane (downgraded to a tropical storm) hit Clinton.

Here are , along with a whose house was almost demolished.

The town is still waiting for on the $1.45 million spent on Irene cleanup. They have of the funds from the federal goverment.

What happened to you, your house, your car and your property?  Was it real bad, somewhat bad, or not too bad?

How did you cope with no electricity for a week or more? (We grilled everything we could from our freezer.)  Did the kids feel like it was a week of camping?

Did you take advantage of the assistance offered by the town such as hot showers at the Morgan School and free dinners? 

Tell us about your experiences, good and bad (hopefully not like this man who took advantage of the storm to ), neighborly and community-wise, during the storm that we hope never comes calling on Clinton again.
