Family Best Bets Of The Week: Zoo, Movies, Whale Hockey Game!

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Family Best Bets Of The Week

• Connecticut Whale Hockey Game: Whales VS. Pirates

Where/When:  Sunday April 3 at the XL Center, Doors open at 2pm, game starts at 3pm

Why Go: Enjoy a game of hockey at the XL Center. Heck- dress up in the team colors and ring your cow bell!

Pricing: Tickets start at $7. Take advantage of special family pricing on Friday and Sunday games. Package includes three tickets, pizza or hotdogs and a souvenir for $48. Additional tickets for $16.

 

Kids Construction Workshop: A Planter

Where/When: Home Depot in Waterford, Saturday 9am-12pm

Why Go: Kids will get an apron, pin and learn how to make a planter. What a wonderful way to kick off spring!

Pricing:  FREE!!!      

 

• Beardsley Zoo

Where/When: 1875 Noble Avenue Bridgeport. Open daily from 9am-4pm

Why Go: Lions, and Tigers and Bears- Oh My! Nice days are coming. Get outside and see the animals!

Pricing: 

Regular Admission:
Adult Admission (ages 12 & older) = $11.00
Child Admission (ages 3 -11) = $9.00
Senior Admission (62 & older) = $9.00
Under 3 years = FREE
Connecticut Zoological Society Members = FREE

The Henry Carter Hull Library has FREE passes for the zoo!

 

• Archaeology Open House

Where/When: Meigs Point, Hammonasset State Park, Sunday April 3 from noon to 4pm

Why Go: Come down and view ancient Native American artifacts that are up to 4,000 years old.

Pricing: Free!!!

 

• Four Kids Movies in Theaters!

Where/When: Westbrook 12

Why Go: HOP- the cute Easter Bunny movie, Rango, Mars Needs Moms, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules.
