• Ashley’s Ice Cream: Now Open!

Where/When: Located in the Bill’s Seafood Gift Shop

Why Go: Holy Flavors! If there is a flavor you want, then they have it. Everything from soft serve to hard ice cream or ice cream novelties. My favorite part about Ashley’s is the outdoor seating. It’s the perfect quick ice cream stop where you can even bring your dog. Our family flavor: Rum Raisin…Yummo!

Pricing: Prices vary but are affordable!

• Lake Compounce

Where/When: Bristol

Why Go: Lake Compounce is one of Connecticut's best amusement parks! There are amusement rides and a water park. The best part about this park is that it’s smaller than the others. The lines are shorter and the park is smaller. When you have small kids this is VERY important. Little guys don’t want to wait in line. If this is your first season going to an amusement park then you will quickly learn they always like the two rides that are on opposite sides of the park. It ALWAYS happens. You spend the whole day walking from one end to another and going on the same rides. At Lake Compounce, it’s no big deal. My kids are 5 and 7 and we usually spend 5-6 hours in the water park without even noticing. Time does fly when you’re having fun!

Pricing: Season passes are on sale now: $69.99 Check out the website for individual ticket prices.
