Plus new slate of committee members is approved

The Clinton Democratic Committee (DTC) held a caucus last week and put forth three of their endorsed candidates for open positions in town government.

Kim Buckley has been recommended by the DTC to sit on the Board of Education, taking the place of Gerald Vece, Jr. who resigned from his post earlier this month on January 3.

Valerie Nye is recommended to take the place of Miner Vincent as alternate for the town's Board of Finance. Vincent resigned November 16.

According to the town charter, when a person vacates an elected position for any reason, the Board of Selectmen approves the replacement recommended by the town committee or party. The political association of the new person needs to be the same as the person vacating the position.

Also at their recent caucus, the DTC approved the composition of their committee as follows which includes five new members. The caucus is held every two years for both political parties. This slate, which was endorsed at the legally-held caucus, does not become official until March 7.
