Clinton Park & Rec Offers Five New Technology Programs for Kids

Learn and have fun doing so with any of these programs designed for kids from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

 

There's no excuse for "nothing to do" this winter when the town's Parks & Recreation Department has many new programs for kids and adults.

Preschool Tech Tots for Ages 3-6

Fridays, Jan. 25 through March 8 (no class on 2/22)

Time: 11:30am - 12:15pm, Limit 8 children, Runs for 6 Weeks

Fee: $55.00 (Non-residents: $65.00)

Computer Education is now offering computer instruction to children ages three through six years of age. Classes are focused on boosting computer skills and school-readiness skills. Our educators design curriculum with age-appropriate software and peripherals. Children will learn correct posture and terms for using the computer. All materials are provided with weekly hand outs.

 

NEW! Video Animation for Kids in Grades K-5

Tuesday’s, Jan. 29, Feb. 5, 12 and 26 (no class 2/19)

Time: 4pm - 5:30pm

Fee: $85.00 (Non-residents $95.00)

Dive into the world of video game animation by creating characters that dance, sing and interact with one another.  Add sound effects and music clips to create a dynamic video animation game using Scratch, the innovative programming language created just for kids by the MIT Media Lab. Creativity rules in this fun version of video animation! Please bring a snack.

 

NEW!  High Flying with K’Nex and Lego for Kids in Grades  K-5     

Tuesday’s, March 19, 26 and April 2 and 9

Time: 4pm - 5:30pm   

Fee: $85.00 (Non-residents $95.00)

This class uses the Lego’s and K’NEX to create various vehicles that fly. Use our thoughts sheets or create your own invention. This class is coed and requires building in a group setting. Please bring a snack.

 

New! Our Unique World for Ages 3 - 6

Fridays, April 5, 12, 26 and May 3, 10, 17 (no class 4/19)

Time: 11:30am - 12:15pm, Limit 8 children, 6 Weeks

Fee: $55.00 (Non-residents $65.00).

CT Computer Education is now offering instruction to children ages three through six years of age. This exciting new program combines language of French and Spanish into a computer technology six week program.  Each week your child will visit a different country by interacting with computer programs, creating crafts, and playing games. The children will bring home daily sheets of their lesson so that you can continue the learning at home.

 

NEW!  Movie Making 101 with Heroes for Kids in Grades K-5 

Tuesday’s, April 30, May 7, 14, 21

Time: 4pm - 5:30pm  

Fee: $85.00 (Non-residents $95.00)

 Come join the fun creating our mini movie making featuring your favorite Hero. Children will draw the sets, background, add special effects and organize thoughts to create a video of their choice. The class is coed and children will see their creation featured on You Tube and also receive a copy of their video at the end. Please bring a snack.
