If patrons wish to take out books for their children, they need to do it by the end of business day Friday, March 8.

Children's Librarian Lynn Hidek said that during the renovation, Children's DVDs will still be available for loan. Patrons will find Children’s DVDs in a special section in the Adult Audio Visual area.

"Up until March 9, 2013, we encourage patrons to check out all their necessary children’s books, knowing that they won’t be due until after the Children’s Room reopens," said Hidek.

Just to reinstate, no overdue fines will occur on children's books during the renovation period.

When the Children's Room reopens on March 25, look for many new changes, said Hidek.

"For your school-aged children, imagine a state-of-the-art computer research/project center, just perfect for helping them find the information they need and demonstrate all they’ve learned," she said.

Students can work collaboratively at the project table, fully stocked with necessary supplies.

"For families with preschoolers, imagine how easy it will be to help your child find just the right book when the picture books are organized by categories, such as “Things that Go”, “Princesses”, “Colors” or “Pets,"" said Hidek.

These books will be in bins, their wonderfully illustrated covers facing out, ready to grab your child’s attention. A specially designed computer table will house the preschoolers’ Early Literacy computers. An extra table and chairs invites parents and children to examine picture books together, especially those from the Every Child Ready To Read collection.

"Finally, everyone will be welcomed by our friendly, helpful staff at a new Circulation Desk that faces the entry and provides great access and flexibility for assisting patrons of all ages," added Hidek. "The staff can’t wait to show folks around!"
