All I Want For Christmas: Local Gift Ideas

Patch searched high and low for interesting local gift ideas for the holidays. Add your own recommendations on where to find the best gifts for kids, teens, mom, dad, grandparents', friends and everyone in between.

There are as many places to buy gifts in Clinton as there are people on your shopping list. And I bet there's one of everyone on your list including the "person who has everything," the "super picky" one, and the "I only buy American-made" relative.

Clinton has it covered. Here are five recommendations of places to buy gifts. Please, add your own ideas and places to go in the comments section.

Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets:

Yes, they are the mother-ship of outlet stores. There are top designer stores (you know my friends Ralph, Tommy, and Calvin), stuff for kids (The Gap and Gymboree), handbags and accessories (Coach and Dooney & Bourke), china and kitchen items (Le Creuset and Waterford Wedgewood) and so much more.

TJ Maxx:

They have everything at this store, including, clockwise as you enter: luggage, purses, scarves, jewelry, hats, coats, shoes, food (think packaged cookies, coffee, nuts), homey items such as dishes, towels and small furniture, holiday gifts, toys, baby and kids items, clothing for teens, men and women. For the holidays, they have many small gift items such as small electronics, books, and decorative items and hundreds of stocking stuffers.

Christo Jewelers:

Name one woman or teenage girl who wouldn't like jewelry for Christmas. Done.

Ocean State Job Lot:

They may carry pool filters and hardware, but they also have exotic food items for the foodie in your life, clothing, cosmetics, books, and lots and lots of stocking stuffers.

The Bootery:

It's December in Connecticut, so that means cold and snow. What better gift to give your loved one than one of all-weather warmth and comfort. The Bootery has not only a great selection of boots, but plenty of shoes and slippers, too.

For a gift that is nostalgic or unusual, try an antique or collectible shop. One of the most prominent in Clinton is the Clinton Antique Center at 78 E. Main Street. And go a little further afield to Old Saybrook where Treasure Trove on Route 1 recently opened its doors. Check them both out - you'll find Xmas decor, pottery, silverware, books, framed prints, toys, and more!
