New Summer Camp Announced!

This post announces Cedar Island Marina's new camp, The Adventure Summer Camp. It is a day camp for children 9 - 15. It gives them the opportunity to work side by side with real marine biologists in a pristine, natural, and waterfront environment

Let your child be a marine biologist for a week!

The Adventure Summer Camp is a day camp run by the Cedar Island Marina Research Lab. It gives children between the ages of 9-15 a unique opportunity to work side-by-side with real marine biologists in one of the most pristine, natural, and protected shoreline environments in CT.

Campers start the day by crossing the Hammonasset River on canoes. Guided by highly trained counselors, with a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio, campers will travel to different ecosystems in Hammonasset State Park and Long Island Sound. They will conduct experiments, catch local marine life, and then bring them back to the research lab where they will analyze them and create their own touch tanks!

The day winds down with recreational activities such as swimming by the beach or in the marina’s pool.

Counselors at the Adventure Summer Camp are highly trained with working with children. They are also all practicing scientists that have years of experience working in the marine biology field. This camp gives children an opportunity to explore a potential career in the sciences by giving them a chance to participate in real-time experiments that they would not have the opportunity to participate in until college. It is also for any active child that loves the outdoors and the water!
