Eric W. Thornburg of Connecticut Water honored by the Connecticut Yankee Council of the Boy Scouts of America

On Wednesday, May 28, the Boy Scouts of America, Connecticut Yankee Council, honored Eric W. Thornburg, President and CEO of Connecticut Water, and Michael Caron, Commissioner at Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), with its ‘Good Scout Award.’ According to the Connecticut Yankee Council, the award honors individuals whose leadership in the energy, public utility and environmental industries build a better world for future generations.

Mr. Thornburg stated, “I am honored to be chosen along with Commissioner Caron, whose leadership in energy policies and regulatory oversight support the sustainable use of our natural resources to serve future generations.”   Mr. Thornburg noted that there are so many aspects of the water supply profession that rely on good stewardship of our resources and planning that will affect current and future generations. 

Mr. Thornburg was active in scouting throughout his youth and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest advancement rank in boy scouting. “I have fond memories of my scouting experience,” stated Mr. Thornburg. He further stated, “For me scouting provided a foundation in leadership, self-reliance, and good citizenship that have shaped my values and leadership skills.  I thank the Connecticut Yankee Council for honoring me with their Good Scouting Award.”
