Teens: Looking for a Summer Job?

Morgan Wilderman, a Westbrook teenager, has organized a Summer Employment Job Fair for teens on the shoreline that's set to take place May 16!

Are you a teen looking for a summer job? Then head to the Westbrook Town Hall Thursday, May 16. Westbrook teen Morgan Wilderman organized a job fair for shoreline area youth from 3 to 6 PM.

According to a press release, over 30 area employers will be in attendance and they have committed to hiring youth between the ages of 16-24. Additionally, the CTWorks, Career Coach, a mobile employment One-Stop will be on site to help the youth complete online job applications.

Morgan, a junior at Westbrook High School, thought of the idea when she saw the need for summer jobs for teens in the community.

“Because of the economy it is really hard for kids to find employment since they are often competing for jobs against more experienced workers," Morgan said in the release. "I wanted to do something that would help my fellow students."

Westbrook First Selectman Noel Bishop also got behind the idea and offered support.

“This is a great opportunity for the youth in our towns as well as the business community," Bishop said in the press release. "Youth need a chance at a job and I am delighted that so many employers from our region are willing to provide them that chance!”
