Patch Profile: Child and Adult Orthodontics

Patch interviews Drs. Carlough, Burzin, and Gagnon

How long has Child and Adult Orthodontics been in business: Dr. Carlough has been practicing on the shoreline since 1979. Dr. Gagnon joined the practice in 1990, and Dr. Burzin has been with Child and Adult Orthodontics since 1993.

How long has the Clinton office existed: We relocated our Clinton office to our current building at 248 East Main Street approximately twelve years ago. We had practiced in the old train station depot building for nearly 20 years before the move.

Do any of the doctors reside in Clinton: Dr. Carlough recently moved to Westbrook, but lived in Clinton for many years and his three children grew up in Clinton.

History of the business: We have four offices along the shoreline: Clinton, Madison, Old Saybrook, and Centerbrook. Our first location was in Madison when Dr. Maris began the practice. When Dr. Carlough joined the practice, offices were opened in Clinton and then in Old Saybrook. The Centerbrook office is a small office that once belonged to Dr. Ray Siatkowski who left the area in 1992.

What do you offer: We provide comprehensive, modern orthodontic care for both children and adults. We provide early treatment, jaw growth modification appliances, braces, adult aesthetic treatment with clear braces, Invisalign or behind the teeth braces.

What makes Child and Adult Orthodontics unique: We have a unique and special three doctor practice at four convenient shoreline locations. We offer modern state of the art orthodontics in a caring and friendly environment. The most special part of our practice is our caring, friendly and hardworking staff.

What services are particularly "in" right now: Adult orthodontics with clear braces and Invisalign are very popular. The kids love choosing colors for their braces and unique designs for their retainers.

What do you like best about town: We are lucky to be practicing in a town like Clinton and the shoreline areas as a whole, where there is a strong sense of family and a priority on excellent healthcare. Also there are many interesting and fun things to do as well as the places to shop and the friendly people.

What do you like least about town: Probably the Route 1 traffic during the summer.

Any personal thoughts you'd like to share: We feel it is a privilege that so many people over the years have supported us and trusted us with their family's smile.
