Collection Boxes For Troops' Care Packages

Help Fill Care Packages For The Troops

The Clinton Sport Shop is collecting donations for military care packages destined for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. A collection box is set up at the store located at 16 W. Main St. A list of approved and suggested items can be found on the US Postal Service website where you can learn about the Adopt A Platoon program while you’re at it: http://www.adoptaplatoon.org/new/pdf/care.pdf.

But think items like: canned goods including tuna and canned fruit; snacks like granola bars, chips, dried fruit, beef jerky; toiletries including baby wipes, chap stick, foot powder, razors; and fun stuff like playing cards, DVD’s, magazines, CD players and CD's, disposable cameras.

You get the idea.

But be sure to double check what you’re donating because, for example, no pork products, no magazines that might be considered pornographic, no hand sanitizer (contains alcohol) or chocolate – it melts.
