Connecticut Water Customers Benefit from Utility’s Windfall

The water provider is passing on a sizable tax refund to its customers.

Connecticut Water is getting tax refund to the tune of $10 million and they agreed to pay that refund forward to their residential customers.

The hefty refund stems from changes in the IRS tax code and as part of the settlement, Connecticut Water agreed to give customers a credit on their water bills for two years starting in April and will also delay their next petition for a rate increase. Residential and municipal customers may see up to a six percent decrease of their monthly bill, according to a statement issued by the Office of Consumer Counsel.

The Wall Street Journal published a statement by the company that says the agreement is important for the customers and also helps the company shore up and expand its infrastructure.
