How did Greenscape get its name: It reflects our commitment to the environment and people enjoying the outdoors.

History of the business: Started by Frank and Diana as a lawn mowing operation with one small Sears mower - soon diversified into specialized fertilizing and weed control for lawns and also athletic field maintenance. We work for the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, Killingworth, Haddam and Essex.

What do you sell and what services do you offer: Custom lawn fertilization and weed and insect control. Liming and soil testing. We service the shoreline from Guilford to Old Lyme and north to Deep River. We also offer organic lawn care options and specialized programs for municipal athletic fields and parks.

What is in high demand these days: Expert knowledge and commitment to detail, ability to communicate to the customer effectively and to develop their absolute trust in your skills and the value of your services. Follow through with the truth.

What makes Greenscape unique: Our company knowledge of local lawn care issues is second to none, we are the best lawn care company operating along the shoreline, we resolve lawn care problems honestly and openly and constantly educate our customers with newsletters and seasonal updates.

What do you like best about town: It is a great place to raise a family, to volunteer and make a real difference. Frank is on the Board of Directors for the Clinton Land Conservation Trust, and Diana is on the Board of Trustees for the award-winning Henry Carter Hull Library, which just celebrated 100 years of service to the town. This town has a great history of service to the community and we have enjoyed being a part of that.

What do you least like about town: Summer traffic!

Fondest memory of town: Watching our two girls play sports on a sunny evening and then going to afterwards with other families to celebrate.

Any personal thoughts you'd like to share: (Diana) - As an English immigrant who arrived here in 1979, Clinton has been an incredible place to learn how the very best of America works.  I became a naturalized citizen in 2006 but long before that was able to participate in the life of the town through PTA groups, Conservation of Land, the tree committee, our business networking and many school activities.

All communities are not this productive - the contribution of volunteers here is a constant surprise to me, the various town boards and committees, the civic groups, etc. are such an incredible resource of skilled people.

My husband was raised in Hamden so he is a local but this town has been an education to him as well as to how communities can dictate their own future.
