Price range: $6 to $26

Take out:  Menu items are available for take-out.

Kid-friendly:  Red caters to a hip crowd that probably doesn’t include very young children.

Why you should go right now:  Red has a slick modern décor and loads of energy.

The bar offers half-price house wines on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to closing and $5 martinis on Fridays from 9 p.m.

The bar menu provides noshes such as tarot root fries with wasabi aioli, Asian-style black bean mussels and crispy pork belly glazed with Japanese barbecue sauce.

Chef Chris “Jammy” Jamilkowski is working on a fall menu, but until it’s introduced, he’s particularly proud of his classic French onion soup and a New Zealand rack of lamb with a Dijon and herb bread crumb crust, served with a red wine sauce. He also added Asian and French touches to everyone’s favorite burger – a crunchy seaweed salad topper and creamy Brie sauce.

Red also features theme dinners monthly. Details and the menu for the October fall harvest dinner, prepared from local ingredients, will be posted on the web site soon.
