Bites Nearby: Basta Trattoria

A Taste of Italian Comfort Food in the Heart of the City

The weekend is here and it's time to relax over a nice dinner out with family and friends. Why not try one of the many "Bites Neaby" restaurants that are reviewed in Patch each week. Let’s eat out!

Cuisine: Italian, using local ingredients

Price range: $10 to $28

Take out: Yes.

Kid-friendly:  Although the atmosphere is warm, cozy and friendly, children should bring their best manners and inside voices.

Why you should go right now: Because chef/owners Frank and Claire Criscuolo and their chef, Daniel Sergi, dedicate themselves to making guests feel comfortable and pampered and preparing dishes in the style of Italy’s wonderful neighborhood restaurants. The trio is committed to using locally grown – and when possible, organically grown – ingredients, while the menu reflects a balance of old-time comfort foods, regional dishes and trendier styles. Basta’s pasta with homemade meatballs, sausage and “Sunday” sauce is just the thing to melt away the stresses of the week. The open kitchen, with its wood-burning oven, invites guests to be a part of the culinary action.
