This Weekend: Halloween Magic-Lantern Show, Make Your Own Scarecrow Fundraiser

There’s really no escaping all that festive, fall stuff going on around town. Because let’s face it, there is a whole lot of autumn-themed fun to be had this weekend. Anyway, what’s not to love about pumpkins, apples, mums and foliage? Here are our picks for a fabulous fall weekend:

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Guilford Green.

WHY GO: Apple crisp, fine crafts, silent auction and more—all on the beautiful town green!

PRICING: Free.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bauer Park.

WHY GO: Pumpkin painting, scarecrow making and a whole lot more harvest fun.

PRICING: Festival is free and open to the public.

WHERE/WHEN: Every Saturday and Sunday in October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bishop’s Orchards.

WHY GO: It’s a fundraiser for the Community Dining Room in Branford. And it’s fun.

PRICING: Cost is $12 per scarecrow or $20 for two.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday at 1, 2:30 and 4 p.m. at Madison Art Cinemas.

WHY GO: The American Magic-Lantern Theater takes on Madison to present our favorite Halloween tales!

PRICING: Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and kids under 12.

WHERE/WHEN: Sunday at 9 a.m. at Hammonasset Beach State Park.

WHY GO: You’ll work off some of those apple cider donut calories…and you’ll be supporting The Cove Center for Grieving Children.

PRICING: Registration ranges from $5 to $25.

ST. JOHN’S RUMMAGE SALE AND SILENT AUCTION: Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

 : She’s the author of “The Puppy Diaries” and the executive editor of the New York Times. Event is at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

THE FALL FOLIAGE ANTIQUE MOTORCAR TOUR AND CAR SHOW: Cars meet at 10 a.m. Sunday, tour begins at 11 a.m. and show will start at 1 p.m. at the Pratt House Museum in Essex.
