Make Your Own Ice Cream - In a Bag!

And to cool off, how about a fan?

How many times have your kids said I am hot I want some ice cream. I always have told my kids to make it themselves and they did. Now you can do the same with your kids. It is quick and easy and the mess is minimal.

1-tablespoon sugar

¼ teaspoon vanilla flavoring

6 tablespoons salt

Ice

Picture 1 - Ingredients

Put a sandwich zipper bag in a cup to hold it stable and add the milk sugar and vanilla. Seal the bag up with as little air as possible inside of it.

Picture 2 - Sandwich bag

Place it inside another sandwich bag and seal that bag up tight. Now place it inside the gallon size bag and add ice to fill the bag about half way. (I use about 1 and ½ ice cube trays.) Now add the salt to the ice, seal the bag, and shake.

In less than 5 minutes, you will have a sweet creamy ice cream that is so good!

Picture 4 - Done

Want chocolate? Add 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup

Want strawberry? Add 2 tablespoons strawberry jam

Want another flavor? Let your imagination run wild.

Recipe can be doubled but you will have to shake it longer to get it to completely freeze.

Make a fan

Still steamy? Make a fan!

You will need:

Paper that's longer than it is wide

Popsicle sticks or chopsticks

Crayons or markers or paints

Glue

Tape

Start by making pictures on the paper - whatever you like. You can make a patterns, or draw pictures of flowers or your family, or whatever you like. Glue the popsicle sticks to either end of the paper, so that they stick out a couple inches from the edge of the paper.

Then pleat the paper, folding in accordion-fashion for the entire length. Click here to see an example.

Push the folds together, and above the popsicle sticks, run tape around the paper.

When you pull the popsicle sticks together, you will have a beautiful, hand-decorated fan!
