Get Out: Five Great Things To Do This Weekend

Because It's No Fun To Stay Home All Weekend

Put down those books and pause those movies—it’s time to get out. Yes, we mean you. We don’t just come up with these events just tell you what everyone else will be up to this weekend. So take your pick! Head to Hartford for the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival at the Expo Center, check out Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks live at Mohegan Sun or show some support for the Japan relief effort with a night out at Hanafin’s Public House in New London. Make your friends jealous of all your fun weekend plans. Or, better yet, bring ‘em!

WHERE/WHEN: Friday through Sunday at the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

WHY GO: With more than 200 artisans right in one place, you’re bound to find something fun to bring home! Plus, the admission is good for all three days!

PRICING: Admission is a one-time fee of $9 for adults. Children under 12 are free.

2. 

WHERE/WHEN: Friday at Hanafin’s Public House in New London starting at 9 p.m.

WHY GO: Sunday Gravy. Drink specials. Helping out others while having fun? We’ll count you in.

PRICING: Cover is $7, part of which will be donated to the Rotary International Japan Disaster Relief Fun.

3. 

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Andrews Memorial Town Hall.

WHY GO: With local exhibitors to check out, Jack Sparrow and the Easter Bunny, the Expo is sure to be a hit with the whole family.

PRICING: Free.

4. “MARRIAGE MATERIAL” AT THE SHUBERT THEATER

WHERE/WHEN: Show times at the Shubert Theater in New Haven are on Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

WHY GO: Everyone’s a sucker for a good romantic comedy.

PRICING: Tickets range from $40.50 to $52.50.

WHERE/WHEN: Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:30 p.m.

WHY GO: Oh, “Maggie May” I? But seriously, we know you still pull out those cassette tapes every now and then.

PRICING: Tickets are available at $125 and $175.
