WHERE/WHEN: Friday through Sunday at The Kate in Old Saybrook.

PRICING: Tickets can be purchased on a per-show basis, or all access passes for the weekend are $30 per person.

3. THE HOT STEAMED JAZZ FESTIVAL

WHERE/WHEN: Friday through Sunday at the Essex Steam Train in Essex.

WHY GO: Essex is just a little bit closer than New Orleans.

PRICING: Tickets purchased in advance range from $25-$30 per session. All-day and weekend passes are also available. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

4. “EVENING UNDER THE STARS”

WHERE/WHEN: At the Leffingwell House Museum in Norwich on Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.

WHY GO: Bring the whole family and an “odd potluck” with 3, 5 or 7 ingredients to share! Activities and entertainment for all ages will be provided.

PRICING: It’s a fundraiser, so don’t leave your wallet home!
