Eastern Connecticut Ballet’s 2012 summer guest faculty line-up is nothing short of extraordinary.  Charlotte d’Amboise, daughter of legendary Balanchine dancer Jacques d’Amboise will come straight from Broadway to teach musical theatre dance and acting.  A true triple threat, Ms. d’Amboise’s Broadway credits include leading roles in A Chorus Line, Chicago, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Contact, Company, Song and Dance, and Cats.

 With two Tony Award nominations under her belt, Ms. d’Amboise is a much sought after teacher and has conducted workshops across the nation.  ECB invites dancers from all area schools to attend these classes that will focus on the training required for New York Musical Theatre.  Her goal is to give dancers a “voice” and explore the challenge of becoming a triple threat; respecting the art forms of singing, dancing, and acting on stage.

ECB Director, Lise Reardon is thrilled to present this opportunity to area dancers.  “Our goal is not only to train dancers, but to broaden their horizons and give them more career options.  Experiences like these are perfect for dancers going through the process of defining themselves in the art world.”

ECB’s exceptional ballet programs are enhanced each summer when guest artists join forces with ECB’s resident professional faculty.  This year three principal dancers from Pennsylvania Ballet will teach ballet technique, pointe and variations.  Arantxa Ochoa, Martha Chamberlain, and Alexander Iziliaev will share the wealth of knowledge they have acquired while dancing leading roles in timeless classics and original masterpieces.  They will clearly and patiently pass on precise and inspiring information to students, with special attention paid to individual needs.  ECB Artistic Director, Gloria Govrin, former soloist with New York City Ballet will also share valuable information, enhanced by charming stories about her teacher “Mr. B”, the incomparable George Balanchine.

Since ECB believes it is important for all classical dancers to study Modern Dance, Eran Bugge of the internationally renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company will be returning for the second season.  A gifted teacher and performer, Ms. Bugge will pass on the Taylor tradition through his technique and repertory.

ECB welcomes dancers from all over CT, ages 2-adult to participate in any of its comprehensive and varied 2012 summer programs.  This is a wonderful chance for new students to sample ECB offerings and get to know the school.  Programs include:  Mommy and Me (age 2), Magical Musical Dance Camp (ages 4-7), Junior Dance Camp (ages 8-12), Int/Adv Dance Intensive (ages 11-adult), Evening Int/Adv Ballet Technique Classes (ages 11-adult), and Teen to Adult Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Dance Fitness classes.  Any questions about placement or class cost may be answered by experienced and helpful faculty and staff, available by phone or appointment.
