DAVID FINCKEL, cello and WU HAN, piano IN CONCERT

For its final program of the 2011/2012 season, The George Flynn Classical Concerts series is proud to present the internationally renowned cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han. In high demand year after year among chamber music audiences worldwide, the duo has appeared each season at the most prestigious venues and concert series across the United States, Mexico, Canada, the Far East, and Europe to unanimous critical acclaim.

This past November, Musical America named this dynamic husband and wife duo the 2012 Musicians Of The Year recognizing their artistic excellence and achievement in the arts. Joining previous honorees such as Leonard Bernstein, Isaac Stern, Beverly Sills, Philip Glass and Yo-Yo Ma, David Finckel and Wu Han have been praised for their boldness, imagination, and collaborative intimacy. David Finckel received his first cello at age 10 and at 17 became the first American student of the great Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. In 1979 he became cellist of the Emerson String Quartet. Wu Han came to the United States from her native Taiwan at age 20, subsequently studying with Lilian Kallir and Leon Fleisher at the Aspen and Marlboro Music Schools. Both musicians have served as Artistic Directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center since 2004.

The Sunday, May 6th concert will be held at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall in Clinton, well known for its excellent acoustics. Tickets can be obtained by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to George Flynn Classical Concerts, PO Box 473, Clinton, CT 06413 or calling 860-669-1208.
