American Idol, Bones, Farewell to The Office

TV Tips For April 28

American Idol, 8 p.m., Fox

Bold prediction: Jacob Lusk is gone. I have two final two scenarios I am playing with right now: James Durbin and Scotty McCreery or James Durbin and Lauren Alaina. If the first one happens, I will be less-than-pleased. If the second one happens, it will be just like last year, except with way more talent.

Bones, 9 p.m., Fox

Remember in the olden days when the network execs would take a successful show and either spin off a character from it to their own show, or else set up a guest star scenario in order to float a new character and determine if it could hold it’s own show? The latter is what happened on Bones last week, with that Florida finder guy and his wacky entourage, and it was hands down the worst episode of Bones ever, and that includes the Booth-coma-dream-sequence-disco episode.

The Office, 9 p.m., NBC

Make sure your DVRs are programmed correctly, kids, because for some reason this very-special-episode is 52 minutes long. Really, NBC? Zucker isn’t even there anymore. Anyway, Steve Carell takes his leave from the show he helped make a success stateside. He’s a very funny guy, and I wish him well. That said, The Office hasn’t been funny in three years.
