Winter Weather Advisory In Effect Through Monday Morning Commute

A winter weather advisory is in effect until Monday at 9 a.m. for Clinton and the surrounding area, according to the National Weather Service. 

The Clinton Department of Public Works reported that "crews were called in at 1:00am this morning due to slippery road conditions. All roads, Town and BOE parking lots have been treated. Everyone is urged to use caution during this morning’s commute."

The advisory is in effect for southern Fairfield, southern New Haven, southern Middlesex, and southern New London counties in Connecticut, along with several counties in New York and New Jersey. 

Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected overnight, the National Weather Service says. There could be snow accumulations of up to one inch, along with up to a tenth of an inch of ice. Temperatures will be in the low 30's.  

"Light snow and sleet will return to the region after midnight, then change to freezing rain late tonight and to all-rain after the Monday morning rush," the NWS said. "Icy conditions will result in hazardous travel through the Monday morning rush, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads." 

"A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving."
