Two Citizens Appointed to Board of Finance

The terms of the two new Board of Finance members will expire this November.

The five-member Board of Selectmen made two appointments April 3 to fill vacancies on the town's Board of Finance.

Leah Saunders (D) and Laurie Santos (D) were appointed by a majority vote of the selectmen to fill the two spots. Saunders' appointment is for a full seat, term expires November of 2013. Santos' appointment is for an alternate seat, term expires November of 2013.

The two seats on the finance board became available when former members Patricia Ames (D) and Stephen Lillquist (D) resigned from the board.

In accordance with the Clinton Town Charter, the Board of Selectmen can appoint new members to fill a vacancy on the board. The candidate(s) appointed need to come from the same political party as those who resigned.

The vote was as follows:

For Saunders: Voting to approve her appointment was Willie Fritz (D), Lynn Pinder (D) and Ray Rigat (D). Voting against the appointment was Carol Walter (R) and John Giannotti (R).

For Santos: Voting to approve her appointment was Willie Fritz (D), Lynn Pinder (D), Ray Rigat (D) and John Giannotti (R). Voting against the appointment was Carol Walter (R).
