Summer Programs Available For Kids With Autism, ADHD

Westbrook Youth and Family Services will offer two three-week sessions

 

Westbrook Youth and Family Services has announced the dates for its Summer Adventure Program for local children with Autism, ADHD or similar disorders.

According to the WYFS website, the first session will run from June 26 to July 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for kids ages 5 to 7.

This session will offer indoor and outdoor activities at WYFS, the website says, noting that the program offers campers a "chance to play and explore with peers in a fun and safe environment."

The second session will be from July 17 to Aug. 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 4 p.m. for kids ages 8 to 13.

The later session will include weekly field trips, the WYFS website says, "like fishing, visiting a restaurant to practice appropriate 'public' social skills, and a trip to an area attraction such as the Essex Steam Train."

Fee for the first session is $260 and $300 for the second. Financial assistance may be available through your child's school.
