New Sign Illustrates Clinton's Maritime History

The sign, by Victor Mays, has been installed and dedicated at Clinton Landing

The and the Arbor Garden Club have teamed up to bring something new to --a sign by Victor Mays that illustrates the town's maritime history.

According to an email to Patch, the sign was installed by the Town of Clinton and dedicated at a May 4 ceremony at Clinton Landing.

More than 50 people attended the dedication, the email says.

Victor Mays included artwork, text and a map on the sign, illustrating Clinton's rich seafaring history, notably in ship building, sea commerce, fishing and trade routes, the email says.

The new sign adds to the Arbor Garden Club's existing project at Clinton Landing, featuring a small garden and display of nautical items near the flagpole.

I'm sorry that I missed the ceremony, impressed with the efforts for all involved, and excited to go see the sign for myself! Thank you.
