If You Thought Wednesday Was Cold, Just Wait 'Til Thursday ...

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for New Haven County from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Thursday

Clinton woke up to frigid cold temperatures Wednesday morning, and mounds of snow on their walkways, driveways, and cars.

Most of that snow will have been cleared away by Thursday, but the temperatures promise to get even colder. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for New Haven County from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Thursday. A "frigid Arctic air mass [will] remain firmly in place across the central and eastern U.S.," the NWS says. For Clinton, that means wind chill factors as low as six below zero, or lower.

Temperatures could get back up into the 20's and 30's by the weekend, but more snow is possible by then as well.

As for the snowfall Tuesday into Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service received one public report from Clinton saying that about six inches fell in some parts of town.

According to Clinton Patch readers, some parts of town received that much or more.

Susan Salemi who lives in Clinton, not far from the Killingworth town line, said her neighborhood got about 10 inches. , we have about 10. Beth Critchley on Carter Hill Road says her neighborhood got about nine inches. On Liberty Street in Clinton, Mary Lincoln Saczynski, who lives on a hill, got about eight inches. and DonnaLynn Saunders said Tuesday morning, "I just cleaned about 8 off my truck on Stony Point."

Nearby Madison received about six to eight inches as well.

Nicholas M Schaivone Sr. said that his in-town neighborhood in Madison received about five to seven inches. Joan Bartick-Gould said up north around Bradley Corners Road, about six to eight inches fell. She was not happy with the state of the roads while driving her children to school in the morning. While the snow was light and fluffy, the roads were "horrible," she said, including Green Hill Road, where the town's middle school and high school are located.

Bonnie Cohen Bernal said her neighborhood on Indian Trail off of Bartlett Drive got about six inches. Patricia Izant Panico, also in the Bartlett Drive neighborhood, reports getting about seven to eight inches.
