Everything You Need To Know About The Big Parade In Clinton Saturday!

Clinton Heritage Days Celebration is this weekend. There is a parade Saturday at 11 a.m. Here's what you need to know to watch it, participate in it, and how to avoid the roads that will be closed because of it.

Parade – Sat. @ 11:00 a.m.

- The parade will exit Commerce Street, head East on Main Street (US Rt. 1), to Liberty Green.

- All participants are asked to arrive at the line-up area no later than 9:45 a.m.

- All participants must arrive via Grove Street where they will be guided to their line-up location.

- At the conclusion of the parade, all floats are to disperse and exit the parade route via Rt. 145.

Road Closures

Saturday, August 31st

- Commerce Street will be closed at 10:30 a.m.

- Those residents living on Commerce and it’s off streets will still have access to their roads until 10:45 a.m.

- At 10:45 a.m., Main St. (US Rt. 1) will be closed from the intersection of Commerce and Main Street traveling east to Liberty Street.

- You will be able to access Route 1 (Main St.) via 145, Hull Street (traveling west). North High Street/Main St. (US Rt. 1) intersection will not be affected.

Trolley, Parking, Shuttle Busses, Directions & Road Closures

Road Closures

Commerce Street and Main Street will be CLOSED on August 31st from approximately 10:45 a.m-12:30 p.m.  The Unilever lot will be available for parking.  Parking will not be available behind Town Hall or Abraham Pierson School, please plan accordingly.

Parking & Shuttle Busses

For your convenience, please consider our satellite parking service.  Bus shuttles will run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday August 31—Bus A will run between Morgan High School and the Commuter Parking Lot to the corner of Commerce St. and Main Street.  Bus B will be running between Jared Eliot Elementary School to the corner of Liberty Green and Main Street.

Jared Eliot Middle School—69 Fairy Dell Rd

Commuter Lot on Rte. 81–near exit 63 off I-95

Trolley Service


To be certain all festival attendees visit the many activities along Main Street a complimentary trolley, sponsored by The Rotary Club of Clinton, will run Saturday, August 31st from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.along Main Street, making stops at Andrews Memorial Town Hall, Pierson School and Clinton Historical Society’s “Old Brick”.

FAQs

Where is Main Street? Main Street is also Route 1.

How long will Main St/Rt. 1 be closed? This will be closed for approximately 1.5-2 hours on Saturday only. As soon as the parade is ended and pedestrian traffic is out of the roads and the police deem it safe for vehicular traffic.

Where will there be restrooms? A portable restroom trailer will be located on the east side of Town Hall. Porta Potties will be available at each of Heritage Days Venues: Historical Society, Pierson, Town Hall, 1630 House as well as along the parade line up route.

Where is handicap parking? There will be handicap spaces available to those with handicap tags near the Eliot House/Clinton Chamber of Commerce and at Pierson School. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a spot for everyone, and space is on a first come first serve basis.

Where is the Main Stage? The Main Stage is located behind Andrews Memorial Town Hall.

Will there be seating? Seating will be available at the seminars on Pierson Lawn. Seating will also be available under a large tent adjacent to the Main Stage and Food Court behind Town Hall.

Where can I park? We encourage you to use our satellite parking service: Shuttle A will travel to and from The Morgan School and Commuter Park and Ride. Shuttle B will travel from Jared Eliot School to the corner of Liberty Green and Main Street.

Where can I get the trolley? The trolley will be able to pick up passengers at Post Office Square, Clinton Historical Society(corner of Liberty Green and Main Street), Pierson School and The 1630 House.
