Edith Nettleton, A Guilford Free Library Legend, Passes At Age 105

Nettleton either worked or volunteered at the library for 80 years.

Guilford Free Library will no longer be visited by its most dedicated servant, Edith Nettleton.

Last time it could say that was when Franklin D. Roosevelt was first elected president.

Edith Nettleton, 105, passed away on Sunday. She worked as the director of the Guilford Free Library for 44 years, retiring in 1978, and then volunteered there until the days leading up to her death.

As a volunteer, she developed historical archives for the library's Historical Room collection, according to a Facebook post by Clinton's Henry Carter Hull Library. This past summer, the Guilford Free Library had a grand celebration for Nettleton's 105th birthday.
