Each year, via the Eunice Symonds Scholarship Fund, the trust sponsors four Pierson students to attend the Ivoryton-based nature camp for two weeks during summer vacation.
Students are asked to write a persuasive essay as to why they would be the perfect candidate to win the scholarship.
Many of the students write about their love of nature and their desire to “make the world a better place."
Essays are read by the Board of the Land Trust, and as a committee, a decision is made as to who the winners are.
For many students, this is their first camp experience.
This year’s winners are:
- Camryn Smith
- Sierra Innamorato
- Maddie Tuccitto
- Jahayra Lopez
