Clinton Dancer Wins Title At Regional Competition

Kaitlyn Maurais was crowned Junior Miss Dance of Connecticut 2012 at the March 3 competition

 

Kaitlyn Maurais of Clinton was crowned Junior Miss Dance of Connecticut 2012 at the Dance Teachers Club of Connecticut’s regional dance competition in Colchester on March 3, Back Stage Dance Center announced.

Maurais, a sixth-grader at , dances at the Back Stage Dance Center in Killingworth.

The tap dancer won the title with her solo to "I've Got Rhythm," the school announced in a press release.

Maurais also took home the Junior Miss title in 2010, the release says, noting that she won with another tap performance, "Showtune."

Also representing Back Stage Dance Center, Killingworth's Samantha Hogan was crowned Miss Dance of Connecticut 2012 at the competition.

Hogan is a freshman at American University in Washington, D.C. According to the release, she studies journalism and the arts and is a member of the American University Dance Team.

Maurais and Hogan will compete at the national Dance Masters competition in California this summer.

Patch would also like to congratulate Oliva Coppola of Madison, first runner up in the Junior Miss competition and Alexis Nuhn of Killingworth, second runner up in the Junior Miss competition.
