Christmas at the Farm in Killingworth this Saturday

Come join the festivities including horse drawn carriage rides and a tree lighting at Parmelee Farm in Killingworth this Saturday, Dec. 8, from 2pm-5pm.

Christmas at the Farm is like something out of a Charles Dicken's novel, for sure. There are horse-drawn carriage rides, story telling, the singing of Christmas carols, a tree lighting and so much more.

The location is an original farm - Parmelee Farm, at 465 Route 81 in Killingworth. The farm is located adjacent to the Haddam-Killingworth Middle School (parking is at the school). From Clinton, head north on Route 81 past the rotary. The farm will be on your right. Just past the farm is the school.

The event takes place from 2pm to 5pm, Sat., Dec. 8. A rain date is scheduled for Sun., Dec. 9.

The 2nd annual event is organized by the Killingworth Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by TD Bank and Killingworth Lions Club.

Peg Scofield, Director of Marketing for the Killingworth Chamber of Commerce said they had a great turnout last year and have added several new events and programs for this year's event.

Scofield said the Chamber is hoping that the addition of "shop local" vendors and crafters, local businesses, plus non-profits and others will provide opportunities for folks to shop and peruse local businesses.

"For the businesses, it's an event where they can showcase themselves to a bigger audience," said Scofield.

More than 38 vendors, crafters, shop owners, non-profits and local businesses will be there under a big tent to greet visitors. This is a great opportunity to find that one-of-a-kind gift!

Plus the setting denotes an old-fashioned, New England Christmas.

"Parmelee Farm is such a beautiful property," said Scofield. "It's a picturesque old, original farm."

Come one, come all and enjoy refreshments, children's crafts, and of course, Santa!

The contractor has finished installing the new drainage crossings to handle the storm water on theRead More road surface. We are waiting for the paving contractor to start reclaiming and milling the road in preperation for new asphalt. The catchbasin tops will be installed just prior to repaving when the milling and reclaiming work is completed.
