Clinton's Town Hall Annex Project On Schedule and On Budget

The Town Hall Annex Building will house a community center on the ground floor, social services, Meals on Wheels, and an office suite for the Finance Department and the Board of Education when construction is compete.

Plans for Clinton's Town Hall Annex have been in the works for about 2 1/2 years, and demolition and construction at the building starting earlier this year in the late spring. Peter Neff, Director of Public Works tells Patch the project, with a $1.54 million construction budget, is slightly ahead of schedule and on budget. It is scheduled for completion in late winter/early spring.

After the town was unable to sell the property, the space will now serve several purposes.

"The ground floor of the building will be used as a community center," Neff told Patch. "Social Services will also be housed in the building, and Meals on Wheels is slated to move in as well. There will also be an office suite for the Finance Department and the Board of Education."

According to Public Works Facebook page: "Work progresses on the addition to provide a new entranceway to the rear of the building. The addition will also house an elevator to the second floor office complex and provide access to the bathrooms on the first floor."

Photos on their Facebook page also indicate that work has begun inside the building, and a downstairs ceiling was being installed last week. The foundation for the addition for stairwell and elevator has been completed. Neff also explains a sidewalk will be put in to connect Route 1 to the landing behind the building.
