The Morgan School and the Morgan Alumni Association - the Tradition Continues

"The Morgan School" and the Morgan Alumni Association

The Morgan School and the Morgan Alumni Association have a long, rich history, steeped in tradition. And it is "The Morgan School," not Morgan High School. "High School" was only used during the earlier decades of the school when the original school building housed both a "lower" and a "high" school.

As for the Morgan Alumni Association, up until about three years ago, I didn't know that one existed.  In 2009 Dorothy Washburn, Class of 1938, gathered together a group of alumni, most from the 50s and 60s graduating classes, in the hopes of re-organizing the association and to re-establish the tradition of holding a reunion of all graduates every three years.  That began my research and interest into the history of the school and started my work on compiling a database of all graduates.  It has now blossomed into multiple databases recording the history of each class, the traditions of the school, its influence on the town and wider community, and interesting information about alumni.

The reunion tradition began anew, with great success, in 2009 and with this year, the 17th Triennial Reunion of the Morgan Alumni Association is scheduled for July 8th at Andrews Memorial Town Hall.

The Association is looking for representatives from each class to help in locating and contacting alumni and is also looking for class lists of the classes of 1976, 1978 - 1982, 1997, 2002 and 2011 in order to complete the recording of all graduates.  The reunion committee would like to honor, at this year's reunion, those families with the most generations of graduates and those with the highest number of graduates in one extended family.  If you think your family might fit one of these categories, please let me know.

I hope to use this blog as a means to share what I have discovered and to relay to you more about the history of the school, those grand traditions, interesting facts and more.  Ave Morgan.
